Whether you are a novice or a professional diver, we visit dive sites within Baa Atoll and even neighboring atolls suitable for all levels. We not only make diving and snorkeling a safe, but also adventurous experience. Explore the underwaterworld with Ocean Fanatics!
Baa Atoll is home to the world's Manta capital with the highest recorded Reef Manta Ray population. Manta Rays aggregate for feeding at Hanifaru Bay and various other lagoons here during peak season. Manta season spans from June to December every year. During this time of the year, you have a chance to see them out here daily, with a higher chance to see mass feedings towards the full moon or new moon days.
Whale Shark Watching
Similar to the manta, whale sharks can be seen between June up to December with increased sightings having been reported in during September and October. The news of such sightings travels quickly in the atoll, and whale sharks have been seen even offshore of Reethi Beach, easily accessible by Dhoni. Private trips can be booked, too, tailored to your requirements.
Our housereef invites for easy-going snorkel adventures as well as diving. It is predestined for diving lessons as part of a course on the east side of the island and features a beautiful 30m deep drop-off wall on the west side of the island. Multiple snorkeling entries are marked with buoys for easy entry and exit.
Baa Atoll has its fair share of channels to explore, with dramatic underwater landscapes packed with marine life. Over 30 dive sites are reachable within 30 minutes by dhoni, many of the famous submerged reefs are therefore right at our fingertip!
Northeast monsoon from January to April where the so called 'dry season' usually brings blue skies and calm winds with flat seas.
Southwest monsoon from May to November which means generally more chances of cloudy skies, stronger winds and a greater chance of rough seas, depending on various factors such as the moon. However, most of the dramatic rain showers are relatively short lived and soon blown out by themselves.
